Traditional Banco Hut in Burkina Faso

The photo was taken in August 2021 during a field trip to the village of Villy for a survey. It shows a traditional banco hut as we can see in the villages of Burkina, with a thatched roof, nicely embellished by a calebash tree (Crescentia cujete). The cat and the water canaries show that there is life in this house.

The photo reflects the harmony of human beings with nature. "Happiness resides in the simple things but the human being in general has a gift for complicating his life that he rarely tastes happiness." Gilles Abadie.
